To further ensure a safe and secure learning environment, the Lagos State Government through the State Universal Basic Education Board distributed First Aid Boxes to all Public Primary Schools in the State.
At the distribution exercise which took place on Wednesday, July 15, 2021 at LASUBEB Multi-purpose Hall, Maryland, the Executive Chairman, Hon.Wahab Alawiye-King noted that the distribution of the safety materials is line with Mr. Governor’s safe school initiative and also to ensure strict compliance to COVID-19 safety protocols.
He expressed that children are vulnerable to injuries and mild ailments due to their involvement in sports and other extra-curricular activities, adding that first aid treatment will prevent accidents from getting worse.
Alawiye-King stressed that the tools are to enable teachers and caregivers in schools respond swiftly to accidents that may occur before the arrival of a trained medical professional, in severe cases.
He charged the health officers in the school to ensure effective use of the medical kits and also urged the education secretaries to monitor the strict usage of the items provided for the schools.
